Trends you can easily find secondhand

As trends for the upcoming season come into full force, it's always so tempting to buy into every single one of them. Both fast fashion brands and luxury fashion houses will push the most up to date trends with their newest collections for the spring and summer of 2026. High street stores are currently full of all the micro and bigger (macro) trends which is overwhelming - creating a sense of panic that you should buy into all of them. It can be so easy to find trending pieces on Vinted and other secondhand sites, so why spend so much money on items that are being put up for sale by everyday people? As people will rush to buy particular pieces they think are 'trendy', a lot of them end up not being worn as they may have bought into the trends in a rush and have now realised they don't even like them.
Personally, I think there shouldn't be any shame around buying into trends, even micro trends as long as it's done responsibly and thoughtfully. Trends are something that have always been around so it's only natural for us to want to follow them, however, there are good and bad ways to go about purchasing pieces. If you want to buy into trends such as the ones that are going to be around this spring and summer, I would look and see what fits your style already and maybe even take time to think about what your taste in fashion is saying at the moment. If there are trends that you can easily fit into your current wardrobe, why not just have these as an addition instead of purchasing something so random, you're not going to be wearing it multiple times a week.
I would also stick with the trends that are likely to stay around even after the season has ended, or may appear again next summer. For example, maxi skirts are something that come around every spring and summer, so it isn't a waste of money if you want to purchase one for the season. However, ballet flats are possibly a once in every five/ten years trend so I wouldn't feel rushed into purchasing a pair if it isn't your thing already.
No 1. Polka dots

Polka dots are one of this summer's biggest trends. It came about a little bit last year, but it has really taken off this season. Polka dots are everywhere at the moment and I do see this as a trend that could be around even after the summer and into the autumn months. Unlike other years, the polka dots this year are colourful and a mix of browns, blues and yellows are all involved instead of just the classic black and white.
Below is just a small example of all the polka dot pieces available on Vinted right now.

No 2. Maxi skirts

Maxi skirts are another piece that have increased in popularity this spring and summer. This is also one of the trends that I think isn't irresponsible to buy into. Skirts like this are easy to style, wearable with a variety of different tops, shoes and jackets and are also perfect for hot weather. There's a great range of these types of skirts available secondhand.

No 3. Maximalist colours

One of my favourite trends from this season has been the bright maximalist colours and patterns. After many years of the 'clean girl' aesthetic and an off-white being Pantone's Colour of the Year, it is time for colour to come back into our lives and there's no better time than the summer. Vibrant colours and fun patterns make an outfit so much more exciting and memorable - dopamine dressing is hopefully here to stay.
So many different pieces are readily available on sites like Vinted, so why not start building up a colourful collection straight away.

Hopefully this has inspired you to look elsewhere for trending pieces, insteading of heading straight to the high street and to fast fashion brands. If you want to explore the new trends that are around this spring, then instead of purchasing brand new items, try and find pieces secondhand - saving both money and the environment. You’d be surprised how much stuff is already on Vinted and for so cheap.
